Comparing Hypotheticals scenarios and waterfalls

Comparing waterfalls is a powerful way to present the side-by-side impact of different scenarios to your clients.

How to compare Waterfalls

1. From within the Waterfall section of Luminary, click the Compare button in the upper-right corner of your screen.

2. In the window that appears, select the waterfalls you want to compare. You can choose up to four.

3. Edit the display name, growth profile, and death years for each waterfall as needed:

   • By default, the most recently applied growth profile and death years will be pre-filled, and the display name will match the waterfall’s actual name.

4. Once you’ve made your desired selections and edits, click Create Comparison.

5. The next screen will display side-by-side comparisons of each waterfall, including their in-estate, out-of-estate, and gift & estate tax consequences. Use the tabs at the top of the screen to explore differences at each death event.

6. To save the comparison as a PDF, click the Download icon (a downward arrow) in the upper-right corner of the screen.
